IDA-STEP v4 Release Candidate is available! IDA-STEP v4 is full-featured PDM (Product Data Management) system based on an international standard STEP, ISO-10303. Beyond its basic PDM functionality, IDA-STEP provides the core for a range of new capabilities:
· CAD Tool Interoperability, combining electronics and mechanics in one consistent set of data models;
· Design-Analysis Interfaces, using the combined data set to feed rule-checking and simulation tools;
· Long-term Data Archiving, preserving all design data in a vendor-neutral, open international standard accepted by many government procurement standards.
The combined data model wraps up the functionality of many STEP Application Protocols, including AP201, 202, 203, 210, 214, 236, 239 and more. The focus for IDA-STEP v4.0 is to support core capabilities of the Application Protocols AP203 (configuration-controlled 3D designs of mechanical parts and assemblies); AP210 (electronic assembly, interconnect and packaging design); and AP214 (electromechanical design and installation). For example, IDA-STEP can import electronic design files from Cadence (Allegro), Mentor Graphics (BoardStation, Expedition or PADS), or Zuken (CADIF, CR5000)
